Cardboard

A box can become a structure, a wheel, a shadow, or a question about strength.

Use what is already available

Get to know it

Explore a clean piece of packaging before deciding what it should become. Corrugated cardboard bends differently along and across its flutes; thinner card folds more easily. Try changing the direction, layering pieces, or introducing a fold. Describe the thickness and condition when sharing an example, because not all cardboard behaves alike.

Follow the question

What happens if…

  • Which direction bends most easily?
  • Can a fold make the same piece hold more?
